Devin S. Norris

Devin S. Norris is a Composer/Pianist in the Los Angeles Area. Having completed his Bachelors degree studying jazz piano and composition at UC Irvine under the tutelage of Kei Akagi, Devin has been a part of numerous projects as both a composer and performer. Commercially, he composed string arrangements for Grammy winning artist Faith Evans’ album, Incomparable. He also composed a string arrangement for the immensely popular band, The Common Kings. In addition, Devin’s string arrangements can be found on throughout the entire E.P. of the upcoming band Asleep at the Gate. Devin currently serves as the musical director and keyboardist for hip hop artist Ollie Gabriel, touring through the United States with him in the summer and fall of 2015. Devin also appeared on television show Jane the Virgin, playing piano in the band of David Bisbal.

Devin Orchestrated and Musically Directed the premiere of the play The Creation of the World at Orange Coast College in the summer of 2014, continuing his love for musical theatre.

In contemporary jazz, Devin won the 2013 Angel City Young Artist Competition, co-leading a group and composing, which culminated in a performance at the Angel City Jazz Festival at Los Angeles County Museum of the Arts (LACMA). While Devin enjoys playing and composing all kinds of music, he has a particular affinity for strings. This being the case, his own project, which he calls the Devin S. Norris Chamber Jazz Ensemble, creates the perfect mix between through composed classical music, and the freedom of Jazz. This ensemble consists of a string quartet, which the music is all written by Devin, and a jazz trio, drums bass and piano. When not playing or composing music, Devin is an avid fan of baseball, in particular the Dodgers, and loves to surf and play all sports.
