Alain Van Zeveren

Born in Ghent in 1963. Studied at the Royal Music Academy and Conservatory in Ghent. Focusses on Jazz (piano/composition) for several years, played with Dave Pike, Lionel Hampton, Marjory Barnes, BRT television-orchestra ,Toots Thielemans ... Wrote 2 songs for Toots : « Flow » (Jazz-waltz) and « Amoroso » (Brasilian Jazz ballad). 1988-’90 : Teaches Jazz piano and arranging at the Jazz academy of Overijse-Brussels. Co-founded and was a member of the Rock-Pop group « The Radios », who were very succesfull in and abroad Belgium. They received 4 times GOLD and 3 times PLATINUM records for sales of their four full cd’s. Support music for Theater : ’92 « Vermist » and ’94 « De getuige » both by Knarf Van Pellecom. Composed the almost 10 hour lasting orchestral soundtrack for the 26-part television series « Ons Geluk », a scenario by Paul Koeck based on the novels of Gerard Walschap. Alain Van Zeveren received the «Zamu-Award ‘96 » for best filmmusic of the year. He composed the soundtrack for « Missing Link », a Belgian-Dutch-German co-produced motion picture, that will go in premiere around March ’99 in all three countries. This soundtrack was performed by « The Amsterdam Metropole Orchestra », conducted by Dick Bakker. The movie was been nominated for the « Berliner Filmfestival ». Written and produced between ’96 and ’98 for VTM-national television : Wies Andersen Show (x13), Vlaanderen Boven (x26), Dames & Heren (x13), Het mooiste moment (x13), The Soundmixshow (x13) and « Deman » (a 13-part detective-series). He also wrote and produced jingles for several commercials and supportmusic for documentaries. Live- and/or studioperformances (over 100 albums) with : Soulsister, Marjory Barnes, Toots Thielemans, Niels Williams, Jo Lemaire, Stef Bos, Grand Jojo, Helmut Lotti, Bart Kaël, Margriet Hermans, BJ Scott, Petra, Yasmine, The Dinky Toys, Pop in Wonderland, The Radios, Clouseau, Wigbert, Koen Krucke, Pierre Rapsat, Bart Van den Bossche, Will Tura, Jef Bodart, Christian Delagrange, Toast, Gunther Neefs, Willy Sommers, Lee Towers, Anita Meyers, Pierre Kartner, Bonnie St. Clair, Liliane St.Pierre, Samantha Jones, Dennie Christian, Mieke, Bob Benny, Middle of the Road, Dana Winner, Johan Verminnen, Eric Goossens, Kadjanin, Tony Hadley ( Spandau Ballet ), Yous'n Dour, Sofie, K's Choice, Axel Red, Tina Turner,... Wrote 2 musicals for Musichall (Antwerp), Wrote the music for several theatre pieces, directed by Franz Marijnen for the nationale Toneel Den Haag (Netherlands); 2004: Cyrano de Bergerac (van Edmond Rostand / directed by Franz Marijnen) 2005: De meiden (van Jean Jenet /regie: Franz Marijnen) 2006: Triptiek (van Nelly Arcan - Georges Bataille / directed by Franz Marijnen) 2007: Heksenjacht (van Arthur Miller / directed by Franz Marijnen) 2008: Red Rubber Balls (van Peter Verhelst / directed by Franz Marijnen)- Glenn Gould (directed by Franz Marijnen) 2009: Thérèse Raquin (directed by Franz Marijnen) - Nocturne (van Eric Schneider / directed by Franz Marijnen) - Medea (directed by Johan Doesburg) 2010: P.P.P.
