Aleksei Saks

Aleksei Saks has completed his classical trumpet studies in Estonian Music Academy (1995). He has been playing classical music in Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Brass, Latvian Chamber Orchestra, Hortus Musicus Academic Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica Sextet etc.

As a member of Estonian Dream Big Band Aleksei Saks has been performing with: New York Voices, Frank Foster, Dennis Rowland, Randy Brecker, Elaine Delmar, Ray Anderson, Lew Soloff, Tim Hagans, Petras Vysniauskas, Deborah Brown, Freddy Cole and others.

In 2007 he started duo UMA with guitar player Robert Jürjendal. UMA plays it’s members compositions, which have classical forming and nordic ambient atmosphere enriched with free and jazz improvisations. In UMA Aleksei Saks plays trumpet and rarely used corno da caccia both coloured with sound effects and looper. UMA released five albums: Civitas Soli (2008), Hymn To Undiscovered Land (2010), Meeting Unknown (2012), Peidus pool (2013) and last one Wishing Well(2021 Myndstream).

Mutual Isolation is the fourth album from Burnt Belief, the collaborative project of guitarist Jon Durant and bassist Colin Edwin. Edwin is known for playing in Porcupine Tree, his duet Twinscapes with bassist Lorenzo Feliciati, and O.R.k. with King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, among other projects.
