Alex Wilson

Alex Wilson: Alex Wilson took a fateful decision in 1993 and his passion for music and jazz into a professional career and by 1996 he had become one of the most in-demand keyboard players on both the London jazz and Latin music scenes. His debut solo Album, Afro-Saxon, was released in 1997. By 2000 he was called to play in Courtney Pine?s band this collaboration lasted for a year after which Alex wanted to focus on his own projects and establishing his own band. He also began recording the album that was to become R&B Latino. In 2001 Alex picked up the BBC Rising Star Jazz Award.

The Jamaican trombonist Don Drummond (1934-1969), the inspiration for Routes, was in certain respects a mid-twentieth Jamaican parallel of the New Orleans cornetist Buddy Bolden (1877-1931). Bolden pioneered jazz in the US, Drummond in Jamaica. Both achieved mythic proportions during their lifetimes and both their legends endure.
