Alina Brouwer

A fresh and breezy voice, one that has been compared to Brazil's Astrud Gilberto and Spain's Ana Belen and Carmen Cuesta. Alina Brouwer leads her three piece ensemble through sensuous and soulful songs full of catchy melodies and progressions, captivating unsuspecting audiences in the clubs and/or festivals where she performs. "Her songs take you through your past and present; in her voice, as well as in her music, delicious." (Motor 16, Basque Country, Spain). She combines her own repertoire with old, and not so old, songs, and manages to come out of it splendidly.

The heir to Cuba's Lecuona and Brouwer musical dynasty, Alina studied music at the National School of Arts (ENA), and the Institute of Superior Arts (ISA) in Havana, Cuba. She went on to live in Spain, and her debut album, Razones (Nuevos Medios), received wonderful reviews. (buy it here)

In the summer of 2004 Alina started experimenting with different musical formats, and it changed her views on performing. She has set up camp in the U.S. and is collaborating with other songwriters and music producers, cooking up some fresh tracks from hip-hop tunes to pop ballads.

Broken hearts, life stories, and other universal themes will be heard throughout the tracks she is set to record in Madrid (Spain) later this year under the Factoria Autor recording label. With her explosive live performances, she hopes to establish herself as a force in the acoustic and latin jazz scenes. The project has already been met with enthusiasm and high expectations from the music industry. European and U.S. tours are scheduled for late 2006 and early 2007. Alina says she is committed to keeping her concerts spectacular. Her fan base continues to grow steadily, built on the support of followers she's gained over the years.
