Andreas Andersson
Andreas has with his powerful sound and lyrical playing marked himself as one of Sweden's most personal baritone saxophonists. He is active within the Swedish free improv scene, for instance in Perch. Andreas is one of the leading figures in Plunge and Malmö Saxophone Quartet and has quite recently formed a trio with saxophonist Marcelo Gabard Pazos and drummer Peter Nilsson. He also has a duo with pianist Ola Hedén and has performed with Bobo Stenson, Marilyn Mazur, Tomas Jäderlund, Henrik Frisk, Sten Sandell, Dror Feiler, Hans Olding, Herman Müntzing etc.
Andreas has composed music for improvising big band, amateur theatre, documentary movies, and numerous tunes for smaller ensembles.
During the recent years he has been active in FRIM SYD, organizing concerts of improvised music in Malmö.
Andreas has also been teaching instrumentalists and ensembles at the music schools in Skurup and Svalöv and at the Music Conservatory in Malmö.
Alongside this, he has recently finished a bachelor degree in theology and has dedicated himself to the task of, with others, expressing what "church" is/means in contemporary society.

Voices about Andreas Andersson:
”… Andreas Andersson is a storyteller and lyricist on both of his saxophones” - Torsten Eckerman, Jazzlife
”… an unusually beautiful tone in both of his instruments and an impressive technique. Most significant in his playing is a continuous search for beauty and a melodic imagination which is particularly appealing.” - Jan Olsson, Skånska Dagbladet
”…when Andersson really cuts loose, the experience is simply exhilarating.” - John Eyles, One Final note
