Andrew Yeadon

Andrew Yeadon is a musician, singer, songwriter from Co Durham currently running the highly popular TCR music project in Barnard Castle which serves to provide people from Teesdale with tuition, rehearsal and recording facilities and help and advice with music.

Forming his first band aged thirteen influenced by the likes of Guns'n'Roses and Iron Maiden his school bands took on a number of incarnations regularly featuring Ainsley Crishan on bass and Paul Elliott on drums, the group, then called 'The Scarecrows' hit a high when they were 16 when they were picked from 200 bands to play at Newcasatle's Mayfair club in the Northern final of the Panasonic Audio Rock School where they came third. After this the group took an unusual turn and recruited good friends James Whitburn on alto sax and Barnaby Fryer on tenor and did a set of soul covers dressed up in shades and bow ties under the name of 'The Prisoners' who proved very popular.

On leaving school Andrew had a desire to experience something different having lived a very comfortable lifestyle up till then and took on a six month teaching placement in the far West of Nepal. With no electricity the evenings afforded him plenty of time to spend writing songs by candle light on his acoustic guitar and time to study the Hindu and Buddhist traditions he was living within which have become a great part of his life and a great influence in his song writing. While there he took time out to trek in the himalayas and met several Hindu holy men.

On returning Andrew formed Samadhi with friends Dave and Paul Hughes a psychadelic highly Eastern culture influenced rock group several years before Kula Shaker who for various reasons only played about four gigs.

He then went to Birmingham University to study Philosophy where he shared a room with James Saunders who would later feature prominently in his student musical activities.
