Angela Shella Bio: Not too many kids grow up with both a Hammond organ and a baby grande piano in their living room. Angela Shella did. She is one of the entertainment industry’s most personable songwriters. Through partnerships worldwide, Angela Shella has exploited music in film, tv, and radio with major entertainment companies including MTV, BET, Fox Networks, Verity Records and Sony. Angela Shella says, “My dad literally put me on the hammond organ at the age of four and I’ve been singing and playing ever since. As soon as I got a microphone in my hand, I knew I wanted to do this,” she says. Angela, the youngest member of the famous “Meeks Family” is a recording artist and has has performed with Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin, Matt Marshak, and Michel Camilo. She was featured on Pretty Songs CD (2001) produced by Robert Meeks and Thierry Dejean, Djazz studios. She was the gospel choir director at “Sacred Heart Church” in Cambria Heights, New York. In 2007 she released her second album “Freedom” which she recorded with Robert Meeks at RM Studios and Jamain Freeman Studios, Willard Meeks, Arty White, Edgar Meeks. From this “Freedom” CD, the Track “Saving Grace” featured members from the Victorious Praise Choir at Victorious Praise COGIC (Pastor Will Nichols in RTP, North Carolina, USA). Also, from the “Freedom” CD, “Dear God” became the radio favorite. In October 2011, Angela Shella unleashed the “Jazz Collection” EP, her 3rd Album. Well, they say three times is a charm. “Jazz Collection” is a unique production of Vocal Jazz, piano, soulful voice and tons of emotion similar to Nina Simone. This emotion came from the gospel church where she learned to sing and “let it all hang out” as the granddaughter of one of the founding members of the internationally known, Church of God in Christ. Angela Shella produced the “Jazz Collection” EP alone. This is new ground for Angela Shella. She says, “sometimes you have to go outside your comfort zone, so you can grow.” So far, the “Jazz Collection” is currently climbing up the Billboard Charts, that is within two weeks of its release. Shella says, “I think I found my home.” The song “Good Guys” is a blend of jazz with a new clever take on storytelling. Each song has a meaning, an undeniable emotion, and lyrical brilliance. Angela is not just a pretty face. She is a Spelman College grad a public speaker who lectures on Science Education and Motivation.
