Branka Parlic

Pianist Branka Parlić is one of the most prominent interpreters and promoter of New Music in ex-Yugoslavian region. She graduated from the Faculty of Music at the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia where she studied under Professor Olga Mihailovic in the late 1970s. She later refined piano skills at the Summer Music Academy in Nice under Paris Conservatory professor Pierre Sancan. Since 1986 Branka Parlić exclusively focused her work on the music of French composer Erik Satie as well as to 20th and 21st Century New Music – Minimalism and Post Minimalism. She released the vinyl Initiés (1988), CD Initiés ’88 - Initiés ‘99 (1999) with music by Erik Satie, and the CD Metamorphosis (2004) with Philip Glass’s piano pieces. Branka Parlić released vinyl Satie & Beyond on 2014 by Sing-Sing Studios in Holland and Odličan hrčak in Serbia, presenting the piano pieces by Erik Satie, Graham Fitkin, Jeroen van Veen and Philip Glass. She presented this program at the concerts in London (St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden) and Liverpool (Capstone Theatre, Liverpool Hope University) in 2013, and Lunchtime performance in London (Southbank Centre) in 2015. New double vinyl Initiés 2017 was released in 2019 by label Triston Master Recordings SCHOPPER in Switzerland and by co-publisher “Odličan hrčak ” for Serbia. For this record she received Silver Medal at Global Music Awards in 2020. Her music and concert videos are regularly broadcasted on the major regional Radio and Television channels as well as on the British C Music TV. Branka Parlić performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Germany, England, France, Austria, Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Romania, Holland and Denmark. She also performs film music often live to film or with appropriate video works and visualizations. She works as a piano teacher at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad/Serbia, acts as Artistic director of the concert serial New Ears for New Music and is also often holding lectures and seminars on New Music. She is also a member of Ensemble for Different New Music which repertoire is dedicated to Minimalism and Post Minimalism.

For the record Inities 2017 she received Silver Medal at Global Music Awards in 2020.
