Chris Teal

Chris Teal is a drummer & percussionist based in Rochester, New York. He currently leads the progressive jazz group "Quintopus", featuring original music as well as interpretations of recent popular artists including Bjork, Radiohead, and Sufjan Stevens. Their debut album, "Voyage to Ornoc" was released in 2010 on ears&eyes Records. Chris performs regularly with the Po' Boys Brass Band, the Dave Rivello Ensemble, Crescent City Connection, Madeline Forster, and the Katie Ernst Trio as well as maintaining an active freelance career.

Originally from Spokane, Washington, Chris graduated from Whitworth University (BA '05) before moving to Rochester and finishing a MM from the Eastman School of Music in 2009. He has had the fortune to perform with notable artists including the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, Dayna Stephens, and Wycliffe Gordon. Chris maintains a private teaching studio as well as teaching a Jazz Performance Workshop at the Eastman Community Music School.
