Daniel Yuan Yao

Formed in 2018, the band comprises Royal Academy of Music graduate and Yamaha Jazz Scholar Sam Miles (tenor saxophone), Dankworth Prize-winning composer Chris McMurran (piano), BBC Young Musician 2014 Jazz Award finalist Freddie Jensen (bass), and Daniel Yuan Yao (drums).

The album features different compositions by various members of the band as well as two old jazz standards. Chris, Freddie and Daniel were students at Cambridge when they met, and this album is the product of their double lives as musicians by night.
