Debbie Cunningham

"Soulful, romantic, elegant and sophisticated, an exquisite taste of jazz."

These are just a few of the words that listeners have used to describe Debbie Cunningham's music. Vocalist Debbie Cunningham studied classical music at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Although a Tennessean for the last 2 decades, Cunningham returned to the city of brotherly love to record her debut CD with jazz pianist, Barry Sames. Sames had hounded her throughout her undergrad to give jazz a try but she resisted. Twenty years later, Sames won out. The result is an eclectic mix of jazz standards, pop tunes and an original bossa nova penned by Cunningham and a close friend. All seem to flow together seamlessly with themes of love and romance.

The Musicians recording with Cunningham on The Rest of Your Life have quite a resume themselves and have performed with Roberta Flack, Buddy Rich, Harry Belafonte, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Ben Vereen to name a few. BARRY SAMES on piano, WILBY FLETCHER on drums, LEE SMITH on bass (aka: Father of renown bass player CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE) and secondary bass player, MIKE BOONE. The album leads out with special guest, JOHN SWANA, on trumpet. Brazilian guitarist, LEANDRO FORTES and Venezuelan percussionist, MARLIN SIMON, also add to the flavor of the CD. Additional musicians make appearances with saxophone, clarinet and vibes enhancing the 'chill out' quality of the music. Combine this musical depth with Cunningham's intimate delivery and the result is "A great CD to just kick back with a glass of wine and relax. Love it! " Lori Mechem, Jazz pianist and recording artist.

Debbie Cunningham was born in Massachusetts, raised in Central Pennsylvania and has resided in the Nashville area for the last 19 years. She is currently promoting and marketing her debut CD.
