Dirty Mind

Dirty Mind Jazz Quintet is a fusion jazz group founded in 2010. The aim was to gather a generation of educated musicians living in Belgrade who play jazz music. Band’s repertoire consist of it’s own compositions, original swing, soul and acid jazz compositions (Lost Wallet Blues, Black Cat, Parasite Therapy, Lazy Jazzy Mood,…). Regular repertoire also consist of band’s original arrangements of famous songs (Moanin’, Can’t touch this,…).

The band also performs modern Nu Jazz (Erykah Badu, Roy Hargrove Incognito, Esperanza Spalding, D’Angelo,…), Latin Jazz on Portuguese (Jobim, Joao Gilberto,…), Swing Jazz standards (Ella Fitzgerald, Nataly Cole, Stacey Kent, Peggy Lee,…), as well as some of the more progressive fusion and modern jazz instrumentals(Herbie Hancock, Path Metheny, Weather report, Miles Davis,…).

Dirty Mind Jazz Quintet is a regular part of belgrade’s jazz scene, playing in Akademija 28, Čekaonica, Jazz&Blues klub Plek, OUR bar, Monk’s bar,… and also in region Vip Club – Zagreb, Gusan – Novi Sad, Krug – Kovin,... Band also performed at the jazz festival in Akademija 28; on the satellite programme of RTS; opening a festival REMAKE in UK Parobrod. On 18.January 2012. band had a concert in a big hall of Dom Kulture Studentski Grad. This was recorded and made into CD/DVD disc. There have also been some very noticable appearance on Radio B92 with Brakusa “od 3 do 5” playing live in a studio and on the festival “aprilski susreti” in SKC. Band’s original song “Lost Wallet Blues” has won the award for Best Jazz Composition on 2012 famous international Subotica Omladina Festival.

Band recent plans are to record singles with videos for original songs and covers and play on jazz festivals and festivals of contemporary music in region.
