Doug Drewes

Doug Drewes is a freelance bassist, composer and educator in New York City. His playing has been featured on several recordings including albums by jazz guitarist Oren Neiman, indie rock bands Hurrah! A Bolt of Light! and Hugo, as well as hip-hop artists DXA and Too Deep. He has also performed with the NYCity Slickers, Hurrah! A Bolt of Light!, the Javier Arau Jazz Orchestra, Greg Hopkins, Oren Neiman Quartet, David White Quintet, Lady Luck and the Suicide Kings, Damien Pacheco Quartet, Tristen, Hugo, Doug Kwartler, and the David White Jazz Orchestra. Three of his compositions are featured on the Drewes Brothers album, a quintet co-led by Doug and his brother, Scott Drewes. A former faculty member at Camp Encore/Coda, Doug is currently a faculty member at the New York Jazz Academy where he teaches private bass lessons. Mr. Drewes received his bachelors of music at the State University of New York at Purchase College. He has studied bass with Dennis Irwin, Todd Coolman, Mark Helias, and Scott Colley.
