Ed Harrison

Ed Harrison is one of the north west's most accomplished and respected jazz bassists. He studied music at Manchester University, giving him the classical training behind his brilliant improvisation. Ed has lived in London and Prague, making his mark on the jazz scene in both these cities. He is now based between Manchester and Liverpool, travelling all round the region to play jazz. He also heads Aquarius Jazz ( www.aquariusjazz.co.uk ) which provides entertainment for weddings and corporate events.

The bi-annual Young Jazz Musician competition was launched by Britain's public service broadcaster, the BBC, in 2014. As with all arts awards, the final selection tends to be a lottery, with the judges tasked with picking a winner from among five close-matched contestants. 2020 was no exception.
