Glenn Anderson

Born and raised in Toronto, Glenn has been performing on the Toronto music scene for the past three and a half decades. Over the years, he has developed a musical reputation for being a hard swinging, yet dynamically sensitive drummer capable of driving a big band, accompanying a vocalist or playing in a jazz trio… Glenn performs, tours with and/or records with some of Canada’s best known jazz artists including “Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing”, Alex Pangman and Her Alleycats; Clarinet and keyboard virtuoso Ross Wooldridge’s Tribute to The Benny Goodman Sextet featuring living legend Don Thompson on vibes and the one and only singer/songwriter extraordinaire Big Rude Jake!! One of the newest sensations on the swing/dance scene in New York is Sly Blue; when the boys come up to Toronto, Glenn regularly joins them to perform and/or record. Glenn can also be found performing on a regular basis with country/bluegrass/swing band, Colonel Tom & The American Pour, regularly featured at Toronto’s famous Dakota Tavern and Cameron House. The Traditional Jazz scene in Toronto has long been a musical “home” for Glenn. He’s performed with nearly every traditional jazz band in Toronto over the years including The Excelsior Jazz Band, Dinny & The Allstars, The Hot Five Jazzmakers, The Ragweed Jazz Band, The Hot Peppers, The Dixie Demons, Up Jumped Swing, The Climax Jazz Band, New York – based trumpeter/vocalist Jon Seiger, pianist Jordan Klapman, Bertie & The Gents, The Magnolia Brass Band and so on…

In 2011, long time friend and jazz bassist Jack Zorawski and Glenn teamed up with the amazing vocalist/pianist Roberta Hunt, formerly of Kid Bastien’s ‘Happy Pals’, longstanding traditional jazz band at Grossman’s Tavern, and saxophone sensation Alison Young to bring about Toronto’s talk of the town, Red Hot Ramble. Red Hot Ramble presents New Orleans style jazz, funk and blues along with a second line or two….Red Hot Ramble originally a quartet, performs regularly as a six or seven piece band with the addition of some of Toronto’s finest brass players like trombonists Jamie Stager and Dan Douglas, trumpeters Andrej Saradin, Brigham Phillips, Bryden Baird, Tim Hamel, Howard Moore and Alexis Baro, along with incredible guitarist Kevin Barrett. Red Hot Ramble recently released their debut album entitled ‘Red Hot Ramble’ available at redhotramble.ca
