Hans-Christian Dellinger

Saxophonist Hans-Christian Dellinger's playing credits cover the breadth and depth of contemporary music. Dellinger has worked with such diverse musicians as Giya Kancheli, Mariss Jansons, Dieter Schnebel, Hans Zender and appeared on stage with artists such as Agnes Baltsa, Lang Lang, Katie Melua, Ken Zuckerman, Anindo Chatterjee as well as with the "Ensemble Modern". His orchestral appearances include the Munic Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra/Vilnius. Born in Munich, Germany in 1976, Hans-Christian Dellinger studied saxophone and graduated from the Academies of Music in Munich and Basel, Switzerland where he also developed an interest in Indian music at Ali Akbar College. Following his academic studies he was awarded a scholarship at the International Ensemble Academy of "Ensemble Modern" in Frankfurt. Since then he has been giving concerts at major classical and contemporary music festivals including Ars Musica Brussels, Bregenz Festival, Schwetzingen Festival, Musica Viva Munich as well as at Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Vienna Konzerthaus, Konzerthaus Berlin, Alte Oper Frankfurt, ZKM and Karlsruhe and at IRCAM in Paris. He has received numerous awards for his artistic work from various foundations including the German Federal Culture Trust, European Arts Centre Dresde-Hellerau, Basel Music Academy as well as the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. Hans-Christian Dellinger currently works as a tutor for saxophone at the Leopold Mozart Centre of Augsburg University.
