If you want to do an album of “New Age Orientalia,” you have a hard act to follow. In the late ‘70s and mid-‘80s Kitaro and Vangelis cornered the market on it with their blockbuster albums China (Vangelis, 1979) and Silk Road (Kitaro, 1985).
