Jordana Talsky
The high-flying vocalist/songwriter was a finalist in the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting Competition for one of the album’s original tracks, “Panta Niwas”; a semi-finalist in the Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition; and runner-up for the Julian Award of Excellence for Emerging Canadian Artists (CJSF Radio, Simon Fraser University).
Jordana’s unique sound and varied style may be attributed to her wide ranging experience, having trained in opera, and later work with jazz-funk (Kokoro), acapella (Effusion) and a Gilbert & Sullivan theatre company (Savoy Society).
In her native Toronto, she worked hard to develop her own sound and immersed herself in various projects, including the Young Centre for the Performing Arts’ inaugural Emerging Artists Program; Discoveries, a showcase of emerging Canadian talent at one of Canada’s premier live music venues; and as a member of the prestigious Toronto Mendelssohn Choir.
Having played the club circuit for the last three years, the release of her debut album, Standard Deviation, marked a leap forward in her musical career. The recording features a seamless mix of pop and jazz material. Jordana succinctly describes the style of the record as "jazzy takes on pop songs and poppier takes on jazz songs. I am always attracted to new combinations, rather than strictly sticking to a genre."
Festival work includes the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Barrie Jazz & Blues Festival, Port Hope All Canadian Jazz Festival, Savour Stratford Arts Festival, Jazz on the Mountain at Blue, Markham Jazz Festival among others.

“Standard Deviation captures the strength and richness of her voice, one which is big enough to sing anything from blues to opera…The arrangements are tight, band rockin’, and engineering exquisite. A memorable debut.” - Whole Note Magazine
