Jurgen Burdorf

When Jurgen Burdorf first heard Mark Knopfler at the age of 9, he decided to pick up the guitar. Other players he was influenced by are Bill Frisell, Steve Lukather and Dutch guitar great Eef Albers. He studied jazz guitar at the Amsterdam Conservatory, but never limited himself to one kind of music. Through the years he played indie-pop with singer Janne Schra (Room Eleven), modern composed music by Oene van Geel, Chiel Meijering and Steven Kamperman in plays by Holland Opera, country in a Dolly Parton tribute show (also on mandolin) and in musicals like Jersey Boys and Saturday Night Fever. Just last year, his jazz background was called upon in the musical theatre show ‘From Sammy With Love’. In his own compositions and with his own band, all of these influences can flow freely and naturally.
