Justin Rothberg

Justin currently lives in Manhattan, he is an active member of The Brooklyn Attractors, Sdoun, The Rocksteady 7, Taylor Faith, The Shrine Big Band and other on going projects as a sideman. As an educator, Justin is on the faculty at the Mason Gross music school (Rutgers) and teaches guitar privately in Manhattan Justin has performed with many acts, some notable ones are Sister Nancy, Matisyahu, Julie Dexter, Adam Rogers, Luciana Suza, Congo Ashanti Roy, Frank London, Zoro,The Gaylads, Ari-up, Constantine Maroulis, Uzimon. He has toured with various group across America, Canada, Europe, and Japan, several times. He has recorded several albums for Taylor Dayne, King Django, The Rocksteady 7 (guitar,banjo) , Eastern Standard Time, The Eric Plax Quintet and Raw Deal. His original compositions were featured on Raw Deal’s self-titled debut album as well as their second album “Encoded”. He has recorded various 7″ vinyl records under the version city label. One record features an original composition “God of Abraham” that received radio play in Europe and Jamaica. Justin is also active pit musician in the theater community. He has been involved with many productions ranging from new musicals to subbing on Broadway. Some recent notable productions are “Gettin the Band Back Together” (Ken Davenport, John Rando) Jasper in Deadland (Ryan Scott Oliver and Hunter Foster) and “A Night With Janis Joplin” at the Gramercy Theater. Justin is currently subbing at Rocky, and Aladdin. He has recorded two tracks “Dedicated” and “She Don’t Love You” on Taylor Dayne’s newest album “Satisfied” which reached the front page of the i-tunes store. His original band “The Justin Rothberg Trio” released their debut album and is now available on i tunes, amazon, and cd baby. Their 2nd album is set to be released in late 2014.

Justin received a Bachelors of Music from The City College of New York in 2005.

Education Justin started playing guitar at the age of eight, taking lessons at a local music studio in Princeton, NJ. Shortly after entering high school, he began studying jazz with internationally renowned guitarist Joe Federico, whom he apprenticed under for four years. After graduating, he spent three years studying with Tom Giacabetti at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Since relocating to New York in 2001, he has studied under Vic Juris and John Patitucci at The City College of New York, from which he received a Bachelors of Music in May 2005.
