Marcelo Maccagnan

Marcelo Maccagnan is a Brazilian electric and upright bass player. Graduate from Berklee College of music, , he focused his studies on Jazz and Fusion performance and music production. He was also able to study with great names like: Neal Smith, Tia Fuller, Dave Santoro, Jim Odgren, Ron Mahdi, Joe Carrier among others. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Marcelo moved to New York where he was able to work with various artists and further develop his music. Featured works include: Berklee Contemporary Orchestra at the Boston Symphony Orchestra Hall; Berklee World Strings Orchestra with Tigran Hamasyan; Recording with Kenny Werner and Peter Eldridge Lush Ballads Album; Performances with bands Flightsuit, Tender Beats, Stones in Pockets, Cindy Latin and Cindy Latin Big Band.

Marcelo has two albums under his name, first on being “Looking Ahead” where the music features his Brazilian background and South American rhythms.

And latest release Boundless, where Marcelo and his trio can be heard performing modern and electric compositions where the bass is featured as a soloist and harmonic instrument.

Marcelo’s compositions aim to sound modern with the use of electric instruments and effects but with elements from traditional jazz such as improvisation and communication between the musicians.
