Mark Aanderud

Mark Aanderud. Pianist, composer. Considered as one of the most important and original musicians emerged from Mexico. Son of a pianist and conductor, Mark started his studies at the National School of Music in Mexico City at the age of eight. Not only a jazz pianist, but a classical, and composer, has studied with his father, with Nestor Castaneda, Jean Baptiste Muller, Ninowska Fernandez, at the SIM (School for improvised music, NY), Uri Caine, Bill Carrothers, Enrique Neri, and composition with Arturo Marquez. Mark was awarded as best jazz musician and best jazz CD at the Chec Music Awards of 2003, 2004. As well, as many recognitions from the Mexican gobernment including a grant for the production of two CD's. He has played and recorded with all the best musicians in Mexico, and taught master classes at various conservatories in Mexico and South America. Mark has toured with his trio all over Europe, Mexico and South America. He has performed in festivals and venues including Dizzy's Club at the Lincoln Center, the Prague Jazz Festival, the National Gallery (Washington DC), the Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles Cal., Festival de la Ciudad de Mexico, etc., and toured the United Stated, South America, Europe, Japan and Mexico. Mark now lives in New York were he is an in demand pianist.
