Neil Stalnaker

Tokyo-based trumpet player Neil Stalnaker has been living and working in Japan since 1998. While living in Tokyo, Neil has been performing, recording and touring with a number of musicians such as Makoto Kuriya, Takeshi Ito, Tommy Campbell, Mark Tourian, Yuichi Inoue, Angela Stribling, and many, many others. Prior to the move to Japan, Neil was living in New York. During the 1980's, he was trumpet soloist with the U.S. Navy's Premier Big Band, "The Commodores". In the '90's, after recovering from major throat cancer he toured Russia and and performed in Europe (Montreux Jazz Festival) with his own bands. Currently, Neil is touring Japan with his own band called, East/West Unit and teaching trumpet at Senzoku Music University.
