Nick Webb
A dynamic, talented musician who is experienced in playing in a wide range of styles as a soloist or as part of a section. If your recording project requires the added lift of a saxophone solo, an extra layer of sound or that final flourish, Nicholas Webb should be your first port of call.
Nicholas (Nick) Webb has been playing music since a very young age, first picking up an alto saxophone at the age of 9. Almost immediately he was seen as a promising talent in his schools, being picked as the only student musician to play in bands comprised of teachers and professional musicians for various school productions and shows. He later picked up a clarinet a few years later and also received his first tenor sax, which led to the ability to play a wider range of styles and increase his repertoire. He has been a constant member of various Big Bands, Swing Bands, Concert Bands and Orchestras throughout his years playing, as well as performing solo and as a member of smaller groups. In his college years he performed in a Jazz Quartet which played in many venues, including a concert in the Royal College of Music. He also gained experience playing Chamber Music in Wind Trios and Quartets.
Having attained his A Levels he went on to Lancaster University where he immediately stormed the local music scene, performing with a Saxophone Quartet which performed to great acclaim both within the music department and in the wider local community. He also formed and joined a wider range of bands, playing on the local music scene in Ska bands, Funk Bands and Rock Bands which gained great success. A highlight of this period was the group Underwater Gunfight, who's brand of virtuoso, improvised funk-rock pushed him to the forefront of the Lancastrian music scene, leading to gigs in front of large audiences including festival appearances at the Lancaster University Campus Festival and Beach Break Live 2012 along with playing alongside famous acts such as Maximo Park and The Hoosiers at the 2012 Lancaster University Grad Ball.
Once he graduated from Lancaster University with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Music and History in the summer of 2012, Nick returned home to Brighton where he immediately returned to the local music scene, joining local soul-jazz group KiNGS MEWS with whom he plays regular gigs across the South East including at the Jazz Cafe in Camden. He also joined a function band- The Resolved- with whom he plays a weddings, corporate events and functions as well as public gigs on regular occasions. Nick is an experienced recording artist, having played on sessions for many of his bands over the years and has also been called upon to record experimental and totally improvised music for projects. He is also regularly called upon to perform as a session player for small group gigs and to perform in local orchestras and large bands.
