Paul Hosford is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. He has operated a recording studio in Albion, Nebraska, since 1986 and in 2002 started his own record label, Painted Heart Music, which has released 16 full length CDs to date. Paul's solo jazz guitar CD, Emergence, was given five stars by Jazz 2/Day and his work with young musicians earned him the praise of jazz writer Nat Hentoff.

Paul began learning jazz bass and guitar at a young age from his father, pianist Frank Hosford. Paul has been mentored by several jazz musicians, most notably saxophonist Preston Love and bassist Ray Brown. While Paul's work is largely confined to the studio, he does perform occasionally on acoustic bass and guitar, most recently with jazz flutist Ali Ryerson and guitarist Stan Smith.

Paul has taught guitar and bass for many years and through his position as co-director (with his wife Lori) of the Albion Area Arts Council, has had the opportunity to bring many talented musicians (in many genres) to his rural area to work with school students.

Recorded in part in the nursing home where Paul's father resided before his death, Paul's most recent CD, Generations, is an original instrumental jazz album featuring both his father, Frank, on piano and organ, and Paul's teenage son Thomas on vibes.
