Pippi Dimonte

Giuseppe 'Pippi' Dimonte started studying and playing double bass and electric bass at the age of 13. Driven by a strong passion for Classical music, since the very beginning he got the chance to play double bass in various orchestras, including ONC (Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori) with whom he has accompanied artists such as Nanni Moretti and others. Growing up, he developed a particular interest in jazz music, so he moved to Bologna for further studies at Martini Conservatory. Here, alongside studying, he starts an intensive concert activity, playing with various groups and collaborating with many artists, ranging from Funk to Swing to experimental music. Despite the young age (he was born in 1991), Giuseppe has had numerous experiences both live and in studio: as double bass or bass player, he has played in clubs of various countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Spain, France and Poland, and has participated in several master classes and competitions, winning scholarships both in Classical and Contemporary fields. After collaborations in various albums as a sideman, in june 2014 he debuted with “Morning Sessions”, his first work as a leader, released by FonoFabrique, record label based in Bologna. The same label which puts out Pippi Dimonte Quintet's “Hieronymus”. Currently he works in several musical projects and teaches double bass at Studio SoundLab in Bologna. Dimonte has played with various artists of the Italian and European jazz scene, including Adrien Moignard, Sebastien Giniaux, Tolga During Adama Bilorou, Nilza Costa, James Smith, and others.
