Rebecca Cline

Born and raised in the Southeastern United States, Rebecca Cline has lived in Boston since 1999. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994 with a degree in Latin American Studies and a minor in Music, she spent several years living and traveling in Latin America, including Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico. She earned a second degree from Berklee College of Music in 2001. Currently an Associate Professor at Berklee, she has been teaching Latin jazz and mixed-styles ensembles, Cuban piano classes, and jazz studies there since 2003.

Rebecca is the author of Latin Jazz Piano: Clave, Comping and Soloing, published by Berklee Press. She has traveled independently and with Berklee to conduct workshops in Asia (Malaysia, China), Europe (Italy, Spain), South America (Brazil, Ecuador), and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic). She performs regularly with the Rebecca Cline Trio, and has been performing and recording with the band, Mango Blue, for over a decade.

The Boston-based quartet Enclave, co-led by saxophonist/percussionist Hilary Noble and pianist Rebecca Cline, explores the fiery traditions of Afro-Cuban rhythms with an edgy jazz fusion slant.
