Riza Printup

Riza Hequibal Printup, native of California, pursued her undergraduate studies (1990 - 1993) at the Indiana University School of Music, Bloomington, IN under the instruction of Distinguished Professor of Harp, Susan McDonald. Ms. Printup received her Bachelors of Arts in Music (1994) from Columbia College, Chicago, IL where she continued her studies in Jazz. She pursued her Master of Music from Georgia State University's School of Music under the tutelage of Elisabeth Remy. Other instructors include Dominique Piana, Linda Wood, Beverly Wesner-Hoehn, Deborah Henson-Conant, Stella Castellucci and Distinguished Professor of Jazz, David Baker.

Ms. Printup has recorded with acclaimed Jazz Trumpeter Marcus Printup on his three latest albums, Bird of Paradise (2007), Ballads All Night (2010) and A Time For Love (2011) on Steeplechase Records. She has also worked and recorded with Grammy nominated pianist and composer Kenny Werner. In 2010, along with Mr. Werner's Wind Ensemble, she recorded award winning No Beginning, No End featuring Grammy winner Jazz Saxophonist Joe Lovano and Judi Silvano. Ms. Printup assisted Wynton Marsalis, Artistic Director of Jazz At Lincoln Center, with the harp part for one of his Orchestral works, Two in 3 which was commissioned for and debuted by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In 2011, she performed along side the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in their concert series which featured Chick Corea and the music of Mr. Corea. Ms. Printup recently had the honor of performing Saint-Saëns's classic ‘Le Cygne’ for harp and cello with virtuoso cellist Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble at the opening concert for SummerStage held in Central Park, NY.
