Santiago Restrepo

Jazz drummer and composer born in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia in
1992.


In 2013 Santiago records his first album as a leader titled "Indefensión"
with Sam Farley on Piano and Eduardo González on Double Bass.


In 2017 he released his second album called "Senderos" in homage to his
pet and the nature of Colombia; as he composes to the trees that grow
in the country. In this opportunity the maestro Antonio Arnedo is part of
the album as a special guest.


In the same year he publishes his first book: "The extra-musicality of
Jazz" giving a vision about musicians, daily life and all the problems that
may arise at the time of playing Jazz.


In 2018 he publishes his first DVD "Senderos en vivo en la cámara de
comercio de Medellín ". And he is also invited to participate in the
international Jazz festival BarranquiJazz in the city of Barranquilla,
Colombia.


In 2019 the United States grants him a permanent residence for his
artistic merits. And from this same year Santiago is actively part of the
Jazz scene in New York City, playing in Jazz clubs and events in the city.


In 2020 he recorded his first album of experimental music: "Muestras:
improvisaciones libres". In which he explores abstract language and free
improvisation on drums.


In 2022 Santiago recorded an unofficial album; a tribute and homage to
the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane performing live his
masterpiece: A Love Supreme.


At the end of 2023 he released his latest album to date, titled
Intemporal.


Accompanied by great musical references such as maestro Antonio
Arnedo, Sam Farley, Humberto Arias and Felipe Gómez.
Additionally, the prestigious record label for this album is Música
Corriente, one of the most important record labels in Latin America.
