Takeshi Ogura

Originally from Tokyo, Japan. Studied piano and trumpet first and switched to the guitar. Moved to New York City in 1988 and studied jazz guitar with Chuck Wayne while attending The College of Staten Island where he studied harmony and composition with Dr. Joseph Scianni. Now lives in the Bronx and leads his own jazz trio and a funk-jazz band, New project with Alan Eicher, Rondew Monroe and Greg Brown. Other recent engagements include performances with Duke Jones, Norman Connors, Sean Smith, Scott Fragala, Tyrone Govan, John Cooksey, John Fumasoli, James "Sugar Bear" Skelton, Jr., Art Bennett, Jasper Cain and Bill Crow.
