Yoonmi Choi

In 2006 she graduated Seoul’s university to now belong to the classical pianists’ alumnae. As a classical pianist she won “Donga composite competition”’s’ 2nd prize, and “Jusung University Classic music competition”’s’ 3rd prize. She has enjoyed the experience of playing abroad with several pop-formations in; Japan, the Philippines and China. After all her new experiences, she returned to South Korea and was there admitted to a top Jazz college: “Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts College”. She also won “Calvin college Jazz competition”’s’ 1st prize (2009), “Hoseo University CCM competition”’s’ 2nd prize (2010) and got the opportunity to continue her studies at the “Prins Claus Conservatory” in the Netherlands.

Recently Yoonmi Choi is playing at lots of clubs and Jazz festivals in the Netherlands, Germany and Korea. Already she did over 150 gigs each year in Europe include Jazz time at Ampion, Idstein Jazz festival, Swingin Groningen Festival, Breda Rabo jazz festival, Brussels Marathon Jazz festival, Autumn Assen Jazz festival. And opening for acts like “Dave Douglas Quintet” at the Oosterport, and "Candy Dulfer" at the Jazz time at Ampion Festival. Even thought her start in Jazz was rather late (it`s only 5 years) she managed to achieve a lot and she is still improving in a good tempo.
