Zack Moir

Born in Edinburgh in 1985, Zack completed a BA degree (with distinction) in music performance at the University of The Highlands and Islands before gaining an MMus in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh. He is currently working towards a PhD in music within the Institute for Music in Human and Social Development (IMHSD -University of Edinburgh) which is based on the improvement of music listening experiences for cochlear implant users.

As a performer, improviser and composer, Zack works extensively with saxophones, guitars and pianos to create interesting and engaging experimental music. His involvement in numerous projects in which he has the freedom to blend jazz and other musical forms has led to the development of an original and exciting sound which is rich, lively and vibrant.

2008 saw the release of the debut album by the Multiple Organism Jazz Orchestra - 'Arguments (Waiting to Happen)' which features three of Zack's compositions and in 2009 Zack's debut album 'DIALOGUES concerning...' was released (feat. Dave Fargnoli).
