Dominique Fils-Aimé Dominique Fils-Aimé

Dominique Fils-Aimé is a Polaris Music prize-nominated singer-songwriter from Montreal who draws inspiration from soul icons of the 40’s and 60’s such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Nina Simone. While her musical roots are grounded in early soul and jazz, her voice transcends contemporary urban soundscapes.

Moving on from her 2018 acclaimed debut full length blues-tinged Nameless —which boldly confronted historical silences and sorrows— Stay Tuned! (2019, Ensoul Records) is both a call for and reminder of revolution expressed with the fury of red-hot jazz. Wanting to break away from the standards of traditional compositions, Dominique presents a body of work focused on liberating herself from musical forms. The album won the Félix prize for Best Jazz Album at the 2019 ADISQ gala and was chosen among the 19 best Canadian albums of 2019 according to CBC. Dominique Fils-Aimé was recently nominated as Radio-Canada’s 2019-2020 “Revelation in Jazz” and has been touring Canada’s Jazz Festivals. She just completed the first leg of her European tour in France before embarking on a series of shows across Europe in 2020.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
