Dror Perl

Dror was born and raised in Israel. He has been playing the piano and keyboard since the age of six. He studied with excellent private teachers and had the opportunity to experience and study a varied range of musical styles--from classical to rock, electronic, and jazz. After finishing his army service, he studied at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel, where he earned his first degree. During this period, he received several different Excellency scholarships, performed and toured with the college’s representative ensemble and his own group, and participated and won awards in prestigious competitions such as “Jazz Player of the Year 2000”. In 2001, Dror moved to New York where he earned his BA in Jazz studies at SUNY Empire State College. During this period he also studied with the legendary pianist Dr. Barry Harris at his workshop. Dror has since played in a number of venues throughout the tri-state area as the leader of a jazz trio and duo. Dror performs his renditions of jazz standards as well as his own compositions and can be heard regularly at Louis 649 and other reputable New York clubs.
