Duncan Fraser

It's been a decade since, Jazz Trumpeter, Arranger & Composer Duncan Fraser graduated on a music scholarship from Exeter University and came through the ranks of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Duncan is now in demand as a Jazz and session musician on gigs and recordings all over the UK & Europe and his arrangements have been distributed to numerous ensembles all around the world.

Duncan is also active on the London Jazz scene, having lead his own award winning ensemble, The Duncan Fraser Big Band, and now with his new project The Duncan Fraser Septet, who make appearances at some of the city’s best known Jazz clubs. In 2012 Duncan released his first album with the Big Band, Dealing In Wheeler, on Esteem Records. On top of this Duncan is heavily involved in Jazz education, running workshops alongside the National Youth Jazz Orchestra & National Youth Jazz Collective and directing the Jazz & Big Band programmes at St Albans Music School, Hertfordshire Youth Jazz Ensemble, Hertfordshire Youth Session Orchestra & The University Of Hertfordshire

”This album is the realisation of a dream for Duncan Fraser; it contains tracks brilliantly composed and arranged by a very talented young man who leads an equally talented young band. The average age of the band is 22 and the youngest member of the band is just 16. You would be hard pushed to find any musical ensemble with young players with such professionalism, musicianship and ability these days.”

”Every track has been brilliantly crafted by Fraser and is clearly a direct tribute to his biggest influence as a jazz performer, Kenny Wheeler. His music is fresh yet still rooted in the Wheeler style

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
