Dusty York Trio
Soon after, Dusty began producing and releasing other Portland artist's on the label including: Gordon Lee, Farnell Newton/Marcus Reynolds Quintet, The Mel Brown Sextet, Renato Caranto, John Gross/Dave Frishberg/ Charlie Doggett, Ben Darwish Trio, Chris Mosley, Ben Macy Trio, Paxselin Quartet, Cartridge, Hunter Gatherer, Drew Shoals Collective, Matt Weiers, Andrew Oliver Sextet, Michael York, and many more to come. In an effort to keep jazz fresh and growing, the label focuses on groups that play original material/concepts. All of the groups have combined as a community to push each others music to a larger audience and create opportunities that are better obtained by a group effort. Also, the record label created Diatic Records Presents, which will begin putting together events in Fall '07 that utilize an alternate venue concept that melds visual and mutli-media art forms together to place creative jazz into a more suitable environment that is no longer reliant on restaurant/bars. This benefits every party involved and should put an end to the club/artist dynamic that has developed over the years.
