Ed Santelices

Born in the highlands of northern Philippines, Ed's awareness in music could have been due to hearing a lot of his mother's classic piano-playing as well as his father's virtuoso guitar strumming all through his early childhood years. Soon enough at the age of 7 he began semi-formal training on the piano but only during school breaks, which was the time allowed him. Nevertheless, he would tinker the keys of his mother's upright piano at home almost everyday until he would develop the "ouido" to be able to play whatever music he heard on the radio. What occurred next was his interest in joining a band in high school and that was during the height of "Beatlemania", which unfortunately featured electric guitar players more than keyboard players. But, not losing heart, he stayed on with the trend and content of a supporting role to the "rock stars" until Emerson, Lake and Palmer entered the scene. From there he just kept playing music in all its forms from rock to pop, soul, R&B, and finally jazz. To date he plays mostly blues and jazz music around the joints in Manila where he is currently based. ;-)
