Eran Sabo

Born and raised in Israel, Guitarist Eran Sabo has arrived to New York in 2012 and continues to march down his promising path as a performer and composer, whilst expanding his musical development through explorations of his own roots and traditions as well as Afro-American influences. Born in 1991 in the Israeli town Kfar-Saba, Only 5 years after picking up the guitar , Eran got accepted to the prestigious “Thelma Yellin High School For the Arts” Jazz Department, where he graduated with excellence in 2009. After a selective audition, ranked 1st by the Israeli Ministry Of Education, he recieved an "Excellent Musician" status. That status allowed Eran to complete his 3 year mandatory service for the IDF, while being part of the first school year at the Israeli Conservatory "CJS" program founded by Amit Golan (R.I.P) in direct link with "The New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music" in Manhattan. Thanks to this special status, throughout his military service Eran was permitted to perform widely in Israel (sharing the stage not only with local musicians but also Jazz legends such as Jimmy Cobb ,Reggie Workman and Mulgrew Miller (R.I.P) ) and travel abroad to perform in the 2011 “Umbria Jazz Festival” as well as play on the opening concert for the 2012 “Umbria Jazz Winter Festival” in Orvieto, Italy. During that time, thanks to his High School teacher and mentor Amos Hoffman,he started to experiment and add the “Oud” to his music , which is a Middle Eastern-oriental instrument. In 2012 Eran moved to New York to complete his B.F.A at the "New School" where he got the privilege to be mentored and instructed by inspiring masters such as Reggie Workman, Andrew Cyrille, Ari Hoenig, Sam Yahel, Jason Lindner, Ben Monder and Aaron Goldberg. As well as being a recipient of several awards and grants (*see complete "Gig list" under EPK for more info) Eran was selected as one of the 24 young performers/composers participants in the 2014 "Betty Carter's Jazz ahead Residency program" at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, directed by Jason Moran. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "interesting and complex music that predicts the arrival of a young and very talented musician."
