Evalina Everidge

Evalina Everidge is a torch singer in the timeless old school tradition. Her sultry vocal stylings evoke a soft embrace and her smooth delivery swings! While the musical influences reflected in her sound range from Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson, Blossom Dearie, and Sarah Vaughn, to Maria Maldaur and Bonnie Raitt, make no mistake, her vocal style is her own.

Her love for jazz started from the crib when her uncle serenaded her on trumpet with jazz ballad lullabies! Throughout her childhood she performed songs at parties and family gatherings from the Great American Songbook and Blues and Big Band records that filled her home. By the time she was a young adult, you could find her in coffee houses from D.C to Berkeley, NYC to Amsterdam, performing folk tunes and music of the times; she subsequently joined an all-girl R&B/Rock band.

Ms. Everidge went on to express herself in musical theater and worked for a decade as half of a Roots and Blues duo in South Florida. After an extended hiatus she has at last come full circle, back to her first love, embracing once again the timeless music of the Jazz and Blues Divas. You can find her performing at venues throughout WNC and bringing her audiences along in the celebration!

"Your whole thing is happening. You sing too good!" Sheila Jordan, NEA Jazz Master, about Evalina

"…..a gift to the Asheville Jazz community, Evalina has a passion for expressing the sentiments of her favorite composers and lyricists with a voice that carries their melodies and phrases to heightened places! With a confident and natural stage presence, the feelings she conjures, whether forlorn, joyful, sexy or soulful, will have you wanting more while at the same time, feeling satisfied. The way she turns a phrase the fact that her voice is unique to the scene is more than enough reason to check out this chick!" —-Peggy Ratusz Blues Vocalist, Music Journalist
