Eyal Hai

Born and raised In Holon Israel, Eyal started to play classical music on the piano at the age of 5. When he was 11 years old Eyal picked up the Alto Saxophone, the instrument that introduced him to jazz music and eventually brought him into the Untied States. Eyal has been playing as a soloist from a very young age in different orchestras, jazz big- bands and funk and rock bands, such as the famous Israeli funk band “Portrait”, the “Tel- Aviv Big Band” and “Holon Big Band”, as well as the jazz sextet “Babetov” which he led. After completing one year at Rimon School of music where he was awarded “Jazz player of the year”, Eyal moved to Boston to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music as a scholarship student. It was at Berklee where Eyal was mentored by the Grammy Award Winner Danilo Perez, who later invited Eyal to play with his group. During his studies Eyal was also fortunate to perform in and outside of school with important Jazz musicians such as Jack-Dejohnette, Ben Street, John Patittuci, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Antonio Sanchez, to name a few. And played in important venues such as Blue Note (NYC), Dizzy’s Jazz club (NYC), Yoshi’s (CA), Kuumbwa (CA), Panama Jazz Festival, Scullers (MA), Regatabar (MA), Beehive (MA) and many others. In the last two years, Eyal has moved to New York City where he has been working on his songs, playing piano and singing in different bars in the city, as well as playing the saxophone with different Jazz groups. It was in NYC where he met Lynette Williams and Akie Bermiss, who together with the singer Margaret Glaspy and the musicians he met in Boston, are being featured on his Debut Album “Practicing Catharsis”
