Album Description

SPIRIT, when added to water, air, land and fire, is the “FIFTH ELEMENT”. Founded by Dave Coules, tenor saxophonist, this jazz quintet has been working steadily since its first performance in 2016. Now, with its self-titled first album, and Dave’s thoughtful and unique arrangements, these five musicians show their strengths and talents individually and as a collective. The listener is given the opportunity to hear the tunes, some perhaps familiar, with fresh musical perspective: seldom heard verses, tempo and style changes, moments that, with subtlety, hold one’s attention, and surprises around many a corner. These twelve vocal tunes captivate the audience from beginning to end. The tunes, all fan favourites in live performance, are programmed for the audience to just close their eyes and imagine Fifth Element playing in front of them…

All About Jazz needs your support

Donate
All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
