Francisco Medina

Born in Lisbon in 1982,he started his musical studies at the age of 18,the growing interest for jazz music led him to the Hot Club de Portugal Jazz school,where he studyed for two years,after that he was accepted in the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague(The Netherlands)where he finished(in 2008)his Bachelor Degree in Jazz Performance(Guitar).During this period he took lessons from Martijn Van Iterson,Eef Albers,Erik Vloeimans,Wim Bronnenberg among others,attended workshops of Dave Liebman,James Spaulding,Steve Coleman,Brandford Marsalisand performed live with the Royal Conservatoire Big Band at the North Sea Jazz Festival(2007). Although his studyes have been mainly directed to Jazz his musical interests are much wider,in the last years he has been involved in different music projects as a leader and sideman and performing in several venues,playing Brazilian music,Funk,Pop,writting and performing his own compositions.
