Frank Bond

A veteran of the Vancouver Canada music scene, Frank Bond's interest in music started at an early age. Picking up the guitar by age 11 Frank started lessons at the first school he attended. With a hunger to learn more Frank took lessons from local music teacher Faust Pinto. As well as learning piano this is where he was taught the basics of music composition and creating music in various styles. Other early music endeavours included learning flute for school band and backing the school choir on guitar. During junior and senior school years Frank took advantage of immersing himself in as many different bands as possible thus opening the door to start playing professionally by age 16. These excellent early musical opportunities and exposures greatly helped Frank to play many styles as a pro musician ranging from Country, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Show Tunes as well as Heavy Rock. The list of bands Frank has performed with is extensive including some of Western Canada's top touring Club and Show Bands. Not being limited to just performing Frank has always been creating music for himself as well as being called upon to write for CKVU News with Howard Froese and various other collaborations with Lower Mainland Area musicians. With influences ranging from Bach, Jobim and Chick Corea to Deep Purple and The Police, Frank’s musical influences are too many to list. All of Frank's early musical exposures and teachings have become paramount to what he has been able to achieve presently as a musician. In addition to being a guitar player, learning piano became a valuable tool for Frank to express his musical arrangement ideas as he hears them in his head. Another strong quality Frank possesses is the variety in his songwriting/composing. All of these things come to fruition in his latest release "Instru-Mental". Every song on this CD is unique in style but maintains a common thread throughout. This makes "Instru-Mental" a fun and refreshing listen. This musical outing ranges from complex arrangements with odd time signatures to spacy ambience and everything in between yet at the same time not wearing any musical influences on its sleeve. "Instru-Mental" can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. Plans are in the works to perform the album live. Frank has become an in-demand and sought after teacher since 1995 at Place des Arts in Coquitlam, B.C. teaching guitar, piano, ukulele and bass.
