Frank Giebels
Giebels started his classical piano studies at the age of 15. He studied at Conservatorium Maastricht under the Hungarian pianist Hedy Schneider. After graduating, he decided to specialise in jazz piano, and completed his studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague under Rob van Kreeveld and Irv Rochlin. He subsequently travelled to the USA to perform alongside Carl Saunders, Joe La Barbera, Ray Pizzi and Dave Carpenter. Together with Criz Harris (drums) and Jacques Schols (bass), he produced the CD Science Friction. The re-release in Japan of his first ever album Science Friction sold 2000 CD copies. He cites Art Tatum, Fats Waller, Wynton Kelly, Herbie Hancock and Bill Evans as musical influences.
