Fresh Cut Orchestra Fresh Cut Orchestra

In the fall of 2012, the Painted Bride Art Center commissioned trumpeter Josh Lawrence, bassist Jason Fraticelli and drummer Anwar Marshall to collaborate and compose new music for a large 10-piece ensemble. After its sold-out debut, the newly-formed Fresh Cut Orchestra was awarded a grant through the Pew Center’s Philadelphia Music Project and a recording is currently in post-production. Additionally, the core trio now hosts the monthly “Home Grown Gatherings” series at the Bride inviting featured guest artists to perform with them in an informal concert setting.

The members of the Fresh Cut Orchestra are a few of the many great jazz talents the city of Philadelphia has to offer. The roster includes:

Trombonist: Brent White
Saxophonists: Michael Cemprola and Mark Allen
Pianist: Brian Marsella
Guitarist: Matt Davis
Guitarist and laptop: Tim Conley
Percussionist: Francois Zayas

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
