Garry Elliott

Garry Elliott, is an Ottawa guitarist specializing in classical and jazz guitar performance and instruction. Offering guitar instruction in both Classical guitar and Jazz guitar, Garry received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Ottawa, where he studied with Michael Strutt. He also participated in masterclasses with David Russell and Manuel Barruecco.

As a classical guitarist, Garry provides live music services as a soloist, and also plays in duos and trios for weddings, cermonies and events. He collaborates regularly with Ottawa musicians, including flutist Gertrude Létourneau, with whom he has recorded the CD Habañera, and has recently released the CD Pre Dawn Skies with pianist Steve Boudreau. He has performed and recorded with composer, guitarist Roddy Ellias and the tango nuevo ensemble Norteño. As well as providing guitar lessons in the Ottawa area, Garry is also very active on the Ottawa jazz scene, recently in a performance of original compositons from Pre-Dawn Skies at the Ottawa Jazz Festival. Garry's performances in various festivals include the Ottawa and Montreal Jazz Festivals, the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and the Westben Music Festival. He has recorded for the CBC and Radio Canada on numerous occasions. Garry teaches classical and jazz guitar in Ottawa for Carleton University, as well as providing private instruction.
