George Walker Petit George Walker Petit

George Walker Petit performs on guitar with both his trio and his larger group. In the studio he also plays bass, percussion, keyboards and sings. Petit composes and arranges for his live groups and in the studio for all instruments.

Petit's groups have shared the stage with some jazz legends over the years...McCoy Tyner, Betty Carter, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, James Carter, John Scofield, Joe Henderson, George Mraz, Al Foster, Michael Ray, Hieroglyphics...

The current trio includes long-time friend and drummer (15 years) Mark Dodge and bassist David Ambrosio.

He has been recorded on many projects as a sideman and has recently finished his second, self-produced and engineered release as a composer/performer/leader. This new project, which brings together influences from Metheny to Djavan to Jobim to Steely Dan was entirely recorded and mixed by Petit at walkerecordings jazz in New York City. Mastered by Emily Lazar at The Lodge, it includes performances by some great New York musicians...Mark Dodge, David Ambrosio, Justin Flynn, Whitney Ashe, Arthur Dutra and Steve Hass.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
