Glenn Nolle

Glenn grew up in the Pittsburgh area and began taking guitar lessons at age 8. It wasn't until his discovery of Jimi Hendrix that Glenn became serious about playing and this set in motion 10 hour+ practice days eventually earning him a Gibson Goldtop Les Paul Deluxe by age 13. Players such as Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton were a major influence and certainly the unsung hero of the British invaders: Jeff Beck. Glenn studied under Bill Clydesdale a Big Band Swing guitarist instrumental in Glenn's early chord development and later Jerry Conderato who taught him classical and flamenco. Guitarists such as Alvin Lee of Ten Years After caught Glenn's attention due to his innovative incorporation of jazz chops in traditional rock settings. The genesis of early shred pioneers such as Al DiMeola and John McLaughlin set in motion ideas and techniques Glenn continues to employ today. Techniques such as alternate, sweep and hybrid picking were inspired by these visionaries. Glenn studied under Joe Negri at the University of Pittsburgh and later relocated to Southern California where he accompanied a variety of reknowned contemporary Christian performers and became involved in ska music. Glenn moved back to Pittsburgh where he worked as a college professor and formed the fusion power trio "Stratosfear." Glenn now holds an elite position with Guitar Center as one of the top sales representatives due to his tenacious drive to succeed coupled with his vast knowledge of gear. However Glenn will be the first to say that: "It's not about the guitar." Glenn also teaches guitar and his style (if such a thing exists), has been compared to Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani. It seems to be a fascinating blend of many elements and the album "Night" conveys this concept thru his use of electric guitar, classical, acoustic and lap-steel on the cd. "Night" is also heavy on electronica and Glenn is quite adept as a composer in this genre as well. Glenn Nolle thinks outside the box and "Night" is proof that the path he walks leads to a place of true artistry and inspiration. Peace!

Gear

Two of Glenn's main instruments are a PRS Custom 24, signed by Paul Reed Smith personally and an American LoneStar Strat.
