Gregory Johnson

Greg Johnson has established himself as a luminary figure in the young Jazz community. As a student, he has garnered numerous accolades on the national and international levels. Honors include: winner of the Yamaha Young Artist Jazz Saxophone Competition, two-time finalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, Selectee for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead residency at the Kennedy Center and Ravinia Music Festival’s Steans Institute. Greg has won seven student music awards from Downbeat Magazine. As a professional, Greg has appeared in concert and on mainstream recordings with Jazz greats Curtis Fuller, Billy Taylor, Dick Oatts, Jay Anderson, Alan Pasqua, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer and many more. Currently a TA and doctoral student at USC, he has worked steadily in Los Angeles as a saxophonist, composer and teacher. Greg has released two recordings "Invisible" and "GJ3" under his name and has contributed to dozens more.
